Hi everyone. Since community gardens are shut down right now due to the Coronavirus, and we are all staying at home to #FlattenTheCurve, we thought it would be a good idea to encourage everyone to start a backyard or balcony food garden. Let's make good use of the extra time we have at home!
This discussion is a place for sharing your experiences about starting your own gardens. And also a place to ask questions and get help from others.
The impressive looking tall stuff is beans. Then there's lettuce, cucumbers and swiss chard. It's what planting materials I had on hand!
Well.........this is the humble beginnings of my food garden. Too early to plant outside ( May 24 is customary) however, using potting mix and old seed I had on hand, look what came up! Later I could plant out into the garden or grow on my balcony and deck. Great thing about leaving stuff in pots, you can move them into sun or shade or bring them inside to protect from frost.
